Right now, with the election of President Obama and the volatile economy, the foreseeable future will consist of many challenging times for business owners in the labor and employment arena. For example, there are new amendments to the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, Obama has pledged to pass several additional anti-company legislation during 2009 – the most notorious being the Employee Free Choice Act, and as layoffs continue to occur, there will be a sharp increase in employment-related agency charges and lawsuits. There is really no way to sugar coat what the future holds for companies and their labor and employment practices, and this is the crux of why I started this blog.
This blog is intended to not only provide the latest court and National Labor Relations Board rulings and legislation updates for all things labor related, but to also illustrate best practices that companies should utilize, to educate about the law and what elements must be proven to succeed in labor-related claims, and to create a forum where management questions can be asked and answered pertaining to individual issues.
I hope that you find this labor law blog informative and that you look forward to reading it as much as I look forward to writing it. For those of you interested in reading about the same issues pertaining to employment law, please check out http://www.theohioemploymentlawyers.wordpress.com.
