The Worker Privacy Act is what unions call the bill. The Employer Gag Rule is what managementt calls it. It’s a bill that was introduced in Washington State that prohibits an employer from requiring workers to attend meetings or participate in communications regardingng “political or religious matters.” The definition of “political” includes labor issues. Obviously, this legislation is intended to make union organizing easier by prohibiting employers from giving their side of the story to employees as to why unions are not in anyone’s best interest.
Interestingly, this bill was killed shortly after it was introduced because of an errant email linking campaign donations to the legislation. Click here to read that email. However, democrats are already back in the saddle trying to revive the legislation.
